I have had this Light of the World for quite a while and it is such a nice plant. It's a long bloomer, holds up well in the hot sun and every bloom is consistent and perfect. If I wasn't able to revive this one, I would most definitely have re-purchased it.
Light of the World was hybridized in Minnesota by Karol Emmerich (Springwood Gardens). On her website she shares what inspires her when she names all of her introductions and uses, almost entirely, passages from the Bible for her daylily names. Light of the World had three inspirations: John 9:5; Matthew 5:14-16; and finally what this flower reminded her of ..."it lights up the area of the garden where it grows." That, it most certainly does.
